Nothing says Friday like Pizza Fondue

TGIF, in every sense of the phrase.

It’s not usually like me to be a bad influence on you and your diet/weight loss goals, but if you’re in the mood to break your New Year’s Resolution for just one night, I’ve got the perfect way. Ordering a pizza may seem easy and enticing, but this recipe for Pizza Fondue is painfully simple and tastefully delicious.

  • 1/2 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 onion, chopped
  • 2 Tbl butter
  • 2 – 10.5 oz cans of pizza sauce
  • 1 Tbl cornstarch
  • 1 1/1 tsp fennel seed
  • 1 1/2 tsp oregano
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 10 oz shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 loaf Italian bread

Brown meat and onion in a large skillet. Meanwhile, add 1/2 cup pizza sauce to cornstarch and stir until smooth. Stir remaining pizza sauce into browned meat, seasonings, cheeses and cornstarch mixture. Slice bread into bite sizes pieces and serve on the side.

My girlfriends and I made this recipe a few weeks ago and indulged by dipping our bread right into the skillet on the table. Seemed logical, right? Serve with mixed greens, if you so wish. Enjoy!
