Megabus = Mega-deals

One of my favorite places to visit is the fabulous New York City.

With all the great restaurants, museums, entertainment, and shopping, there’s always something fun to do. Be sure to check out our Local’s Guide to New York City before you go!

Megabus makes it super easy to travel into the city and it’s so cheap, you’re actually saving money compared to driving in.  I recently booked two tickets to go to NYC in July on Megabus for a total cost of $43.50 (round trip).  If I were to travel using Amtrak the same day it would have cost me $172!  And if you’ve even driven with me (or seen me drive), you’ll know that taking a bus is not only cheaper, but a much safer alternative.

If you’ve never heard of Megabus, you absolutely have to check it out.  I’ve gotten one-way tickets from Providence to NYC for as cheap as $3.00.  With tickets that cheap I have to wonder, are they even making money on these trips?!

Now I know what you’re thinking, a $3.00 bus ride?  These buses must be absolutely disgusting.  Think again.  Most of the buses are double decker coach buses with 1 or 2 bathrooms on board.  And the seats are actually nice.  Added bonus: most buses have free Wi-Fi.  Want to bring your dog or cat along?  No problem! The buses are pet-friendly (I once had the privilege of driving home with a German Shepard and a Black Lab in the same trip).  However, I’m not sure if you have to pay extra or let Megabus know ahead of time, but it’s something worth looking into.

Not from the Providence area?  Don’t like NYC?  Well, Megabus has service nationwide for the same great, low prices.  Go check it out!
