Move Over, Ricky Gervais. They Can Do Better.

Award season has officially kicked off and already it seems the general opinion is the same: yawn.  I can’t tell you how many times I’ve already heard how boring people thought the Golden Globes were this past Sunday.  Personally, I enjoy award shows–the fashion, people’s dreams coming true (it may sound cheesy but I love it), funny commentators, award speeches.  It makes me smile.  I get it though, most people disagree.

Lucky for award shows, I’ve come up with a plan to make them better.  All they have to do is choose any one of these funny-ladies to host and they’ve got a surefire way to spice up the often drab award show.

Chelsea Handler.
Obnoxious? Mostly. Sometimes. Hysterical? Absolutely.  Her dry sense of humor and monotone delivery of jokes always makes me laugh.  You don’t want anyone too cocky hosting an award show, it’s annoying.  If we wanted to go watch people who were full of themselves, then we would turn on Jersey Shore.

Amy Poehler or Tina Fey. Have you seen an episode of SNL? Ok then. No need to say more.

Betty White. Sure there may be people out there who are sick of her but you have to agree, she’s still got it.  Face it, she’s been around for…awhile.  She’s gone to her share of award shows and probably knows what works and what doesn’t.  She doesn’t have beef with anyone in Hollywood and what’s better than a drama-free show? Well, maybe not completely drama-free, but at least it will be as far as the hosting goes.

Sofia Vergara. Talk about increasing the ratings with the male population!  She’s eccentric, animated and loud.  In short, a great host choice and will keep people’s attention for more than 5 minutes.

Ok Screen Actors Guild, International Press Academy, The Recording Academy, and whoever else runs these shows… Take my advice.  People will stop calling the shows boring and will actually look forward to watching them. You’re welcome.

Did I miss anyone? Disagree with one of my choices? Tell us on Twitter @20sTweet

  1. I love these… especially my girl Chels. As long as we forget about her drunken and/or more awkward time ever hosting one of the MTV awards a couple years back, we should be fine!
