Safely in Style: Ringing in the New Year

And just like that, Christmas is over. Twenty-somethings love going home for the holidays. But with Christmas ’11 in the past, it’s time to look ahead (or maybe even finalize) plans for the new year. Now that your friends are all finally of age, it’s time to go OUT. The more sparkles, glitz, and glitter on New Year’s Eve, the better. How, where, and with who will you be ringing in the new year?

First things first. The most important item on any twenty-somethings NYE To-Do List:

1. Find a DD.

Yep, I said it. Time to be responsible. Planning transportation with a reliable, sober, designated driver should be the #1 item on your list. So now you’re thinking… Great. You’re stuck inviting that acquaintance that doesn’t really drink, or that one of you will be clinking glasses with sparkling cider (and complaining) right around midnight.

Well, no, not necessarily. Why not arrive in style (and very safely?) Book a limousine for your New Year’s Eve celebrations this year.

Trust me: It’s more affordable than you think. If you have the time, make some calls to a few different companies. They’re more than likely hoping to rent all of their vehicles on this infamous night of drunk-driving catastrophes. So if you’re smart and rather lucky, some limo companies might offer you an hourly price, include gratuity for the driver, and/or throw in a complimentary bottle of champagne. It’s all a part of the game. Set the plans, sit back and relax, and enjoy the night with your friends. What better way to ring in the new year?

It’s safe, convenient, and luxurious.

On the same kind of topic, a friend just shared with me that AAA is offering “Tipsy Tow,” a free service to get you home from 6pm-6am on New Year’s Eve/Day. You don’t have to be a AAA member! They will take your drunk self and your car home for FREE. 1-800-222-4357. Save the number!
