Hurricane Sandy gave lots of people a day off from work today. While watching the Today Show and local coverage of the storm, you’re probably doing just about everything you can think of that requires electricity before losing power. (Like I am right now… Blogging away!)
Before divulging into your favorite bottle of wine, case of beer, or stock of comfort food, grab a piece of paper and pen and jot this simple, full body workout down. Depending on where you live, you may be without power for the next couple of days. Once you’ve emptied the fridge (don’t let the good food go to waste!) and read every book on your shelf, you may feel like getting a simple, yet challenging, at-home workout in.
If you’re new to circuits, the concept is easy; after a quick warmup, set your clock for x amount of time, and repeat the list of exercises until the time is up. I recommend a 5-minute warmup, followed by a 15-minute circuit of the below exercises. Twenty minutes is all it takes to get a good sweat going during an intense, full body workout.
Warmup:
Stretch
Jumping jacks or jog in place for 5 minutes
Circuit: Repeat for 15 minutes
15 squats
10 pushups
20 crunches
15 calf raises on each leg
10 tricep dips
20 arch-ups (laying on your stomach)
10 alternating lunges on each leg
15 full sit-ups
10 wide arm pushups
Stretch
